This allows the app to offer really smooth and accurate measuring experience including on walls and other vertical planes. I tested the simple measuring ruler and it doesn't work at all. The first thing is that it's very difficult to use. You have to center the camera to where you want to measure and manually move the camera around to make the measurements.
From a hand coordination perspective, this is not the most accurate way to measure, since if you have slightly shaky hands, the measurement will be drastically off. A better option could be to use the finger for setting both the start and end points of the measurement. The measurement I did take was close but not accurate.
